Sunday Good Tidings
Seventeen more days until Christmas. Shop now. Stimulate the economy.
Actually, forget shopping. It’s a beautiful Sunday morning. Sunny and in the mid-60s, for those of you not in SoCal. Sunday mornings are starting to be a rut, but it’s a good little rut. Head downtown on Sunday morning when the parking meters are free and get a good (i.e., non-local) newspaper from a real, live newsstand. Then head around the corner where the barista makes decent mochas and the outside tables have a good view of both the early-morning joggers and the Saturday-night survivors. Put the feet up on a chair, sip my mocha and read my paper. Start on the crossword puzzle. In short, chill. Forget about deadlines, rely on caffeine instead of exercise to get the heart rate up, and enjoy one of the advantages of being in San Diego.
The only problem is I can’t yet stalk the blogs from that little outside table. Without also taking a few minutes to sit at the desk I might have missed Dave’s great post about consequences arising from actions. I might have also missed Nino’s recap of the joys of flying a nearly bankrupt airline over the Thanksgiving weekend and his tease about kilts.
I’m also putting little yellow stickies on the door so I can remember to search the truck for pennies in support of Shel’s 2nd Anniversary Penny Drive For Charity. I’ve gone through the pants in the laundry, I’ve searched through the La-z-boys, and now I’ve got to scour the truck. Some lucky charity will get them all tomorrow. It’s the least I can do after Wedneday’s weather post. Must make amends.
But for now – it’s sunny. Pongo demands attention. A crossword puzzle is challenging me. Must go back and see if there are any new comments to Ed’s great Wednesday post.
